About Moon Festival
The Moon Festival is a harvest festival celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. For the 2018 calendar year, it falls on September 24, 2018. While the original purpose of the Moon Festival was to worship a lunar deity, the modern celebration steers towards gathering as its central theme. Across many cultures in Asia, it is a time for reunions among friends and families to eat moon cakes, light lanterns, play games, and watch the moon, a symbol of harmony and unity. With family and thanks as the central theme, we hope to bring the community and its families together in this holiday season through gourmet food, shopping, and entertainments.
Event Detail:
World Journal Los Angeles is intended to organize the “Moon Festival & Gourmet Food Fair” in co-hosted with Temple City in the Temple City Park and Las Tunas Ave. to celebrate the “intangible cultural heritage” behind the holiday. The event will have an event stage for local community performers to showcase their talents, exhibition space for cultural art showings, and booth space for cultural foods.

Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 2 pm to 10 pm
Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 10am to 8pm.

Event highlights & plan:
--Exotic Foods: There will be many different types of gourmet food stands vending specialty foods to festival and party attendees. These will range from stinky fried tofu, fried swirl potatoes on a stick to boba milk tea.
--Lantern festival
--Stage Performances by community groups, schools, kung fu masters, etc.
--Merchant Booths: Including cultural goods, daily live merchants, small appliance, etc.
