Event Details
"As children and grandchildren of Asian immigrants, we were taught the key to success is hard work, education, and fitting in. However, as this year has made clear, meritocracy in America is a frustrating myth, and we are not all the same. We contain multitudes: our personal and professional paths go far beyond the straitjacket of the model minority. As we fight anti-Asian sentiment and work toward more inclusive AAPI representation, this Seventeen Syllables reading offers stories and poems that resist stereotypes, celebrate complexity and diversity, and expand our notion of Asian America."- Grace Loh Prasad.
