Artists Austin Forbord, Jerry McLaughlin and Carrie Ann Plank will share the methods and inspirations behind their works of fine art created exclusively for the show.
Our Artists in Conversation series strives to build community and open a dialogue between artists and with the public through curated talks in our gallery. 
Curated by Philip Bewley, the X Materia exhibition features works of art in various media concerned with material and place. The show explores these themes through four areas including: The direct engagement of earth-bound materials such as carbon, wax, graphite and salt; An examination of the disparate meanings attributed to location and landscape, from the awe-inspiring natural world, to those urban in-between places often overlooked; A look at the social dynamics of those who inhabit a place and the impersonal perspectives by drones and surveillance satellites; and the very building blocks and underlying mathematical equations that govern all things.
X Materia is on view at DZINE Gallery through April 2019.
Reception starts at 5:30 PM, followed by a discussion at 6 PM.Prosecco will be served.
