Inspired by great instrumental groups such as Booker T & the MG's, The Meters, Jimmy Smith Group & The JBs, the band expands on this musical heritage by adding influences from West African Afrobeat, Brazilian Samba and healthy doses of Jamaican Dub in which electronic effects become instruments of improvisation. With a repertoire ranging from soul jazz to funky dance floor throw-downs, The Oakland Crush serve up surprising musical journeys for the mind and soul.
